Dr. Apples is a fun, fictional, fantasy brand that spans multiple media, including an award-winning podcast, young adult novels, mixed media film/TV projects, award-winning screenplays, and collectible merchandise. The story follows the quirky wizard, Dr. Apples, on a dark, sometimes humorous quest to find his mother, who was kidnapped by fairies. Blending fantasy, folklore, and adult humor, the brand invites audiences into an eccentric world of mystery and whimsical adventures across various platforms.

Our mission is to celebrate and perpetuate the underground African American diaspora via storytelling. We empower communities through storytelling, preserving our history and heritage while addressing contemporary social justice issues. Our goal is to collect, own, and institutionalize narratives that depict the African American experience, enriching our neighborhoods with stories that educate, entertain, and inspire. By embracing the voices of both elders and youth, we ensure the vitality of our cultural legacy and promote inclusivity and understanding across diverse communities.

Our Artistic Diversity
At Dr. Apples, the art knows no bounds. Our creative process embraces a multitude of artistic styles, including mixed media, hyperrealism, kawaii, abstract, and more. The Inspiration
As an African American female creator and self-taught multidisciplinary artist, I draw upon the deep well of lost ancestral narratives, fragmented yet resilient, that have emerged through the African diaspora. These stories, often marginalized and obscured by history, find new voice and vigor in our work. Dr. Apples' journey—his quest to unravel the mystery of his mother's disappearance and his own identity—is emblematic of every individual’s search for their roots and reality in a world that often obscures it.
The Heart of Our Story
Dr. Apples is a wizard whose life was forever changed when at 16, his mother, a powerful sorceress in New Orleans, was taken by fairies. Each year, he receives a doll containing fragments of her essence—each one a poignant reminder of the past and a clue to his future.
These dolls, traditional tools of domestication and storytelling, symbolize his fragmented history and his mother’s lingering spirit.
Our Approach
Utilizing various forms of media—including art, podcasts, film, and books—we aim to articulate the folklore of Dr. Apples. We delve into topics considered taboo, such as hoodoo, spiritualism, and mythical folklore, to bring forth stories that challenge, enlighten, and inspire.

This project is a living expression of my heritage and a reflection of the sacrifices made to bring these stories to light. By embracing the rich tapestry of southern vernacular, culture, and folktale, Dr. Apples invites audiences to explore narratives that have been sidelined by mainstream discourse, offering a pathway to rediscover and reclaim one's identity.
